The Kundalini Research Institute (KRI) Level I yoga instructor training based on the teachings of Yogi Bhajan is a 200 hour course. The course fee includes all weekends of instruction, practicum and evaluation, one year membership to IKYTA, the excellent KRI Teachers Manual and Yogi Bhanjan’s book: The Masters’ Touch.

Yogi Bhajan, Master of Kundalini Yoga, arrived in the United States in 1969 with a stated purpose: "I have come to create Teachers, not to gather disciiples." For over 30 years, he traveled internationallyh teaching Kundalini Yoga, the Yoga of Awareness. In 1969, Yogi Bhajan founded 3HO -- the Happy Healthy, Holy Organization, based on his first principle: "Happiness is your birthright." Through the Aquarian Teacher Program, Yogi Bhajan trained thousands of KRI Certified Kundalini Yoga teachers. In 1994, the International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association (IKYTA) was formed to further spread these priceless teachings through the united efforts of Kundalini Yoga teachers worldwide.

Students will be required to attend all weekends, complete reading assignments, take a final exam, write up two yoga curricula, complete a 40 day sadhana (practice), attend a White Tantric yoga course, complete the requirements listed in the document entitled Student Certification Requirements and adhere to the Code of Professional Standards for Kundalini Yoga Teachers.

Areas of study will include asana and kriya, mantra and meditation, western as well as yogic anatomy and physiology, yogic philosophy and lifestyle, teaching methodology and practicum.

The Aquarian Teacher program is the KRI Level 1 Certification program in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. In Level 1 you will become an Instructor and learn the fundamental principles and practices of Kundalini Yoga. You will develop the skills to instruct students in Kundalini Yoga in a practicum setting, participate in early morning sadhana (spiritual practice), and experience the poweful transformational energy of White Tantric Yoga (see whitetantricyoga.com). This is a 220 hour course, which includes 180 of classroom instruction in a well-defined cirriculum which includes:

Teaching Kundalini Yoga Postures, Kriyas & Meditation

Role of a Kundalini Yoga Teacher

Yogic Philosophy & The Origin of Kundalini Yoga

Yogic & Western Anatomy

Humanology & 3HO Yogic Lifestyle

This program is open to both those who wish to become teachers and those who wish to immerse themsevles in the science of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan to deepen their own yoga and meditatioin practice.

Most weekends we will meet Friday evenings 6 to 9m and Saturday 8 am to 5 pm, and Sundays 9 am to 530 pm. We will also meet 2 mondays - Presidents' Day, and Martin Luther King Day.

In addition we will meet 5 mornings at 5 am for Aquarian sadhanas - either on the same Sundays we meet, or if the group decides, on 5 different weekends.

Fee structure is as follows:

$1000 deposit holds your space.

Refunds minus $300 until October 15th

Refunds minus $700 after November 15th

$3050 (total with deposit) – if paid in full by November 15th

$3200 (total with deposit) paid after November 15th

Installments possible only with a separate written agreement made with Yoga House and only available with a valid credit card on file for automatic payments to be deducted at agreed dates or all signed checks given at the start of the course with deposit dates.

$2000 minimum by the time the course begins, all payments due by December 4th unless otherwise agreed.

INDIA TEACHER TRAINING

Gurmukh and Gurushabd of Golden Bridge are leading a Level 1 Teacher Training in India for the month of November, 2009. They have asked me to be one of the teachers in this training and I am delighted to do so. You may sign up with Yoga House for the training - paying a deposit of $1000 no later than September 15th to guarantee your space and materials by the start of the program. There is no refund after October 15th, and there is a non-refundable administrative fee of $300.

ELIZABETH GREATHOUSE aka Gurumukh East
took her first meditation class with Yogi Bhajan in 1982. What struck her most about that first class was how he encouraged his students to understand their own radiance and grace.

She received the spiritual name "Gurumukh Kaur" from Yogi Bhajan in his trailer at the Summer Solstice sadhana site in New Mexico that same year, and spent the 1980s living in a 3HO family ashram in Seattle.

The last time she saw Yogi Bhajan in 2003 he said "thank you for the work you are doing, we are all in this together." Humbled by his humility and dedication, she encourages everyone to utilize the technology of Kundalini yoga and meditation to determine their path of service in this lifetime, and then to commit to it.

Elizabeth practiced law in Seattle and Brussels, Belgium and four years ago created Yoga House Studio, the Washington DC area's premier Kundalini Yoga studio in the developing neighborhood of North Columbia Heights along the border with Petworth. She lives in Washington DC with her husband Marc, that she is grateful to have met at the age of 13 living in Malaysia, and her dog Pete.

GURMUKH KAUR KHALSA

Gurmukh is the co-founder and director of Golden Bridge Nite Moon, Los Angeles' premier center for the study and practice of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation. Since being baptized 35 years ago with the Sikh spiritual name meaning "One who helps people across the world ocean," Gurmukh has dedicated her life to fulfilling her namesake. For nearly three decades, students in Los Angeles and from around the world have sought out her classes in Kundalini Yoga, meditation, and pre-and post-natal care. She has been married for 25 years to Gurushabd and has a 24 year old daughter who also lives in Los Angeles.

GURMUKH KHALSA

Gurushabd, co-director of Golden Bridge, teaches classes that are musical, challenging and provocative. He encourages students to move beyond old comfort zones, and into deeper, and more meditative realms of being. Married for 25 years to Gurmukh, they reside in Los Angeles with their many dogs.
